I'm Kalen — highschool dropout, solopreneur, account management professional, bouldering novice, and job search aficionado 😎

I grew up in a low-income family, delivering newspapers from a young age. In freshman year, I joined McDonald's and grinded five years through management.

A father in IT, I was always fascinated by technology, built a popular website, created an early Youtube channel, and traveled around North America playing Starcraft II.

I briefly studied Business and Psychology before landing a call center job with Shaw - a telecom giant.

I made lifelong friends and climbed the corporate ladder before jumping on the rocket ship with a young and rapidly growing, Shopify.

Completely remote and in hyper-growth, I took on several projects and put in hours to help make this ecommerce monolith what it is today.

I then got in early on an early stage Silicon Valley startup, Shogun. As employee #50, I was there from Series A through C.

Having been a part of the early recruitment team, we grew the company to 200+ employees. I learned all of the behind the scenes hiring secrets and knew I could leverage this knowledge to my advantage in a future job search.

That's when Job Searcher was born.

Within 90 days and a 100+ applications, I interviewed dozens of times and received multiple competing offers.

I successfully tripled my salary in three years from $40,000 to $120,000.

I wasn't enjoying the new company, and was confident I could find another, so I quit and found a new job with an even higher salary in just 7 days 😮
